The firm was founded in 1987. Ryana K. Mather joined as partner in 2010 to complete our team of 6 diverse lawyers. We are purposely a boutique law firm devoted to providing a variety of commercial services. Our clients are very diverse although we specialize in the oil and gas service sector throughout Canada and North America. We are counsel for both the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors and Petroleum Services Association of Canada and have provided legal advice on a number of industry issues. G. Brian Davison, Q.C. - Partner
As a founding partner of Davison Worden Mather LLP, Brian has maintained a significant litigation practice in Calgary since 1978. Brian has many years of involvement with the service sector of the petroleum industry, as well as experience in employment, receivership, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. Brian has appeared before all levels of Court in the Province of Alberta and has conducted trials involving oil & gas well drilling and servicing, commercial, corporate and employment issues. Brian has extensive experience in cases involving the Company Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. Brian has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of Insolvency and Financial Restructuring Debtors Rights. Derek R. Worden - Partner
Derek is a commercial lawyer with 35 years of experience in corporate and commercial transactions and corporate finance. Having worked closely with a large oil and gas service company and its international affiliates, Derek’s experience includes the establishment and negotiation of ongoing activities of joint venture initiatives as well as project financing with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Finance Corporation. Other areas of his practice include share and asset acquisitions and dispositions, real property leases, technology licenses and transfer agreements. Derek has received a BV Distinguished Peer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Thomas R. Benson - Associate
Tom has 30 years of experience in the oil and gas, corporate, commercial and civil litigation areas practicing both in a corporate environment and in private legal practice. Tom was employed by the Alberta and Southern Alberta Natural Gas organizations from 1980 until 1994 where he gained an in-depth knowledge of natural gas marketing, extraction and pipeline matters while heading up the corporate legal function for both companies. Tom has considerable experience in analyzing business problems and in developing strategies to help clients achieve their objectives. Tom also holds a Master of Engineering degree.

Ann Buckingham - Special Counsel
Ann is a native Calgarian, having practiced in Calgary for 29 years. Ann’s two preferred areas of practice are bankruptcy and insolvency, and wills and estates. Over the years, Ann has worked extensively on insolvency matters, acting as counsel for both debtors and creditors. Ann is experienced both in formal procedures under various insolvency and restructuring legislation, as well as in working with clients to create solutions addressing their particular needs. In the past, Ann has been an instructor of the bar admission course on the topic of Creditors’ Rights. In a parallel area of interest, Ann enjoys working with clients in preparing wills as well as assisting with all aspects of the administration of estates.

Melissa D. Tennison - Associate
Melissa joined Davison Worden Mather LLP as an associate in 2011. Prior to joining the firm, she articled and practiced in the litigation group of a major Calgary law firm for six years and later, at a Calgary based boutique litigation firm. Melissa has extensive experience in various general litigation matters with a focus on corporate commercial disputes. She has appeared before all levels of Court in the Province of Alberta.

Justin R. Seitz - Student at Law
Justin joined Davison Worden Mather LLP in 2012 as the firm’s articling student. Justin obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Lethbridge, and worked for Parmalat Canada as a laboratory technician on the production management team. In 2011 Justin earned his Juris Doctor in Law at Bond University on the sunny Gold Coast of Australia. In his spare time Justin enjoys playing soccer or squash, and when he can, escaping to the mountains with his wife to ski or hike.
